Sparkplug: It sounds like your plate is too full. Is there anyway you can delegate any part out? If not, breathe, Get a cool cloth for your forehead, and take 10 minutes for yourself. You know that things always have a way of working themselves out. I'm the type that I am very glad to help, if you ask, and tell me exactly what to do. I think many others are this way, and will be very happy to help. Wish I was 150 miles closer, and I would help. HL

Do any white people live in New Orleans?
by sonnyboy ini've never been there myself, but every single person being shown on the news is black.
wading through the streets, stranded on rooftops, etc.
i'm not sure if the media is just focusing on certain areas of new orleans or if it's a predominantly african american city.. the only footage i've seen other than this has been mardi gras and that consists mostly of tourists.

guy girlperson. I would sure like to shake
his herGlendalyn's hand. I'm sorry HL -

OK, This is half way off thread. I want to ask about people. Dead People. Are the coffins coming out of the ground, floating away? I heard that they expected it before it hit. Nothing since. Has anybody heard? Disease is going to be rampant. It looks like a Third World Country down there. HL

maybe I'm making too much out of it.......
by under74 ini'm going to try to make a long story short.... i moved away from my home city for grad school 2 years ago and left a couple boxes at my mom's for safe keeping.
my mom ended up moving to a new place during the 2 years i was in school.
i noticed on visits that there was only one box i recognized stored out in her new garage and asked her about it...she got defensive and said she took all that was boxed.

My mom kept telling me that Grandmas figurines were in a box for me. My mother will tell you that she doesn't like knick nacks. And that I did. I kept putting off getting them, since I don't get along with her. She later said that I did not come, so she put them on a shelf. The shelf broke, and all of them got broken. She threw them away. It was my fathers mom. My mom never did like her. I know some of them were worth alot of money.
One of them I feel was priceless. I had used one of them as a paperweight, on the back porch. It fell and broke. My grandmother was sad. I was about 10 years old. I spent all day, glueing it back, "Just as good as new". My grandmother acted so very happy.
Sorry for your loss, under 74. I know exactly how you feel. It was a part of you, that you have lost, it really hurts. HL

Schizm: I know that alot of people here on the forum, probably including you, are very liberal. I am definitly not. I don't mind either way anyone, including you, how you believe. I love this country. I am a Girl Scout leader. I know that you are probably rolling your eyes right now, but I do have a point to make. I have taught my girls for the last 7 years, they are now 13 and 14 years old , to love our country, and to respect our leaders. I hope I have instilled in them to volunteer for the rest of their lives. They love our country, We study both sides of issues. They have all gotten badges from their churches. Every girl goes to a different church. 9 of them. When each earned their badge from their church, We have all gone. So my girls have been exposed to various religions. Church of Christ included.
We lead anytime we can, in doing our flag ceremony. We help by telling people to vote. We sing the Star Spangled Banner at functions.
OK,OK, I love all (worldly) religions in my small town. I love my country. If my government sees a reason to go to war, so be it. I may not agree, but I will support it. And if 1 church takes it upon theirselves to be the chaplains, God love them.
We might have gone to Iraq for the wrong reason, WMD, but the carnage that Saddam was committing on people had to stop. If we had gone in there, with stopping him from killing inocent people, people would better be able to tolerate the war. I am not a war monger. I just have a love for my country. I am not that smart about world affairs, or the Bible. I am a former JW elders daughter, that is trying to get rid of baggage. So to get into a big arguement with me is useless. All I can do is share my feelings.
Would Jesus approve? I don't know. Would he want us to stop Saddam. I think yes. Is he glad that we stopped Hitler? How do you answer? HL

Suggestions for donations to Hurricane relief efforts
by SadElder inwe sure that your hearts, like ours, are touched by the disaster of katrina and the impact for time to come on those directly affected.
not only have these folks lost homes but many will have lost jobs as well.
there will surely by pleas for monitary help from those intent only on lining their pockets.. any experience with those who should and shouldn't be sent donations?

My experience with the Red Cross is if you send or call in to donate money, it goes into a big pot. They can use it for any disaster. If you want it to go toward a specific disaster, you need to state that. It will then be earmarked for that. But I think, with as bad as it is down south, I figure the Red Cross will be using everything they have got toward them. HL
